Masa

Who We Are

Masa is the corn-based dough used to make vital foods like as tortillas and tamales. It is one of the oldest foods in the world and nourishes our communities as we continue shaping the future. As a 501(c)(3) organization, the Masa Center strives to emulate these characteristics. We are malleable, dynamic, and nurturing. We are rooted in our cultural histories, and we act for the well-being of future generations.

Our mission is to enact transformative justice through art, culture, and research. We pursue this by collaborating with communities to develop creative and educational projects that shift narratives and create new knowledge.

Our Team:

Nerli Paredes Ruvalcaba - President

Dr. Connie Rojas - Finance Officer

David Chakur - Secretary

Victoria Fox-Ramon - Community Movement Specialist

Dr. Santos Ramos - Program Director
